Music Ministry

Music Ministry

Music Ministry allows our congregation to share in worship and witness. The singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs builds community and praises God. It brings together people of all age levels, people of different origins, people of varied cultural, economic, social, and educational backgrounds.

Through music we celebrate the presence of God (God with us) and His life-changing power. God’s people collectively raise our hearts’ affection and focus our minds’ attention on the One who is worthy to receive our offerings of praise and worship.

A blended style of worship allows us to bring the witness of the past into the reality of the present. We must not forget or neglect the songs of faith that have brought us this far and we must not ignore the inspired music of today.

Martin Luther said, “Music is a fair and glorious gift of God.” This gift (music) should be offered back to the Giver in praise and worship to bring glory to Him. Soli Deo Gloria! (To God alone be Glory!)

If you love to sing and have a passion and heart for worship, you’ve found your place to serve! No audition is necessary. We rehearse every Wednesday, 7:45-8:45 p.m. in our sanctuary. Come and join us; we’d love to have you!

Instrumental Ensemble

For those of you who are instrumentalists, we hope that you will consider joining us in the Olive Chapel Instrumental Ensemble. This group plays for special and seasonal events. So pick up that instrument and come join us! We rehearse on Monday evenings September – May, 6:30-7:30.

Handbell Choirs

Olive Chapel offers three handbell choirs that meet from September through April. Olive Chapel owns 5½ octaves of Schulmerich handbells, 5 octaves of Malmark choirchimes and 2 octaves of Schulmerich Silver Melody Bells. Our goal is to come together to worship God through music. The handbell choirs offer an opportunity to participate in a music group, even for those interested in playing, but who do not possess a musical background.

The Sunday afternoon bell choirs are multi-generational and are open to anyone from age 6 through adults. Ringers may join either choir or come and ring for the entire hour. Music is color coded for an easier learning experience.

The Chapel Bells is our beginning bell group and starts with the basics. This group uses 2-3 octaves of handbells or choir chimes. Music for this group is geared toward a beginning choir and is easy to master. New ringers are paired with helpers until they are ready to ring on their own. Rehearsal: Sunday, 4:30-5:00 p.m.

The Trinity Ringers is an intermediate bell group. This group's music is a little more advanced and uses 2-4 octaves of handbells or choirchimes. We welcome youth or adults with little to no bell/music experience to join this group. Rehearsal: Sunday, 5:00-5:30 p.m.

The Maggie Bell Choir meets on Wednesday night. This is our most advanced group, but we welcome new adult or youth ringers with little to no bell/music experience who are willing to learn. This group's music is the most complex and incorporates all 5½ octaves of bells. Rehearsal: Wednesday, 7:45-8:45 p.m.
